Mallorca in winter: The „Secret Season“ 2025/2026

Winter is our best-kept secret. It is the time when we feel the privilege of living on this island most intensely. We call it the „Secret Season“.

While in many parts of northern Europe the sky is grey and thick winter jackets are part of everyday life, here we often sit on the terrace in a T-shirt. The light is completely different in winter - clearer, softer, almost magical. Santa Ponsa and Port Adriano do not go into hibernation. On the contrary, they just change their rhythm: everything becomes more relaxed.

Here are our personal highlights for winter 2025/2026.

Everything closed? Not at all! Enjoyment without a waiting list

In August, you often have to book days in advance to get a good table. Now that winter is here, the gastronomy belongs to us locals again - and to you! Many of our favourite spots in the southwest are open all year round.

We like to meet here:

• Adelfas by Jens (Nova Santa Ponsa): A must for gourmets. Jens and Nicole run this restaurant with great passion. The mix of Alpine and Mediterranean cuisine is real comfort food, especially in winter. Tip: Ask about the seasonal specials!
• Donna Vegana: A real highlight for the healthy lifestyle in Santa Ponsa. Here you'll find 100 % plant-based cuisine, organic quality and super tasty gluten-free options. Perfect for a long breakfast or a healthy lunch in the sun.
• El Ceibo: If we fancy an excellent steak, we go here. The atmosphere is informal and cosy and the quality of the meat is consistently excellent.
• My True Burger & Vegan: Sometimes it just has to be a really good burger. This spot is great because it brings everyone together at one table: There are fantastic meat burgers here, as well as creative vegan options. Ideal for a relaxed evening with friends.
• Port Adriano: The marina is also lively in winter. A relaxed coffee with a view of the superyachts that spend the winter there is wonderfully laid-back. Restaurants like the Vino del Mar are perfect places for sunny lunch breaks.

Action and events: skates instead of swimming trunks

Yes, you read that right. One of our highlights in the winter calendar is the Christmas park in Port Adriano.

From the 19 December 2025 until 7 January 2026 the central square is transformed into a winter wonderland. What makes it special: There is a large eco ice rink. Imagine that: Ice skating right by the sea, surrounded by palm trees and yachts. It's an experience that can only be found here in the south-west.

For active people, now is the best time for sport:

• Golf: The courses, such as Golf Santa Ponsa I, are wonderfully quiet. No time pressure on the tee, simply pure playing pleasure at a pleasant 16-18 degrees.
• Hiking at El Toro: The route to the old watchtower and the top of El Toro is often too hot in high summer. Now in winter, the air is fresh and the clear view often extends as far as Ibiza.

The reality check: does life here really work?

A holiday home is nice, but can you live here permanently? Definitely. Santa Ponsa is not just a tourist resort that becomes a ghost town in November.

1. the infrastructure International supermarkets, drugstores, pharmacies and international medical centres are open all year round for us residents. You don't have to do without any comfort.

2. workation & high-speed internet Thanks to comprehensive fibre optic internet, working from the island is no problem. Many of our customers use the winter for a „workation“: checking emails and making calls in the mornings, and recharging their batteries with vitamin D on the beach in the afternoons. That's a quality of life that money can hardly buy.

Come and visit us!

We invite you: don't just come in July. Come in February for the almond blossom or in November when the island is quiet. Rent a holiday apartment for a week and try out life here. We're sure you won't want to leave.
